The Léonard Parli confectionery is one of the oldest in Aix-en-Provence. Founded in 1874, it is famous for its calissons. Calissons are white diamond-shaped sweetmeats, made from ground almonds and candied fruits. In the XVIIth century calissons were said to prevent plague, but we think that this is just an excuse - now that Southern France is happily plague-free, we suggest you celebrate with a calisson or two!

Serving suggestion : Extremely chic served with coffee as an alternative to the ubiquitous mint!
